Jarom J. BergesonAssociate B.A. Communications, Brigham Young University, 2004
J.D., Sturm College of Law, University of Denver, 2008
Jarom is the managing attorney of the Cedar City, Utah office of KKOS Lawyers, and has been with the firm since September 2011. During that time, Jarom has focused his practice on helping entrepreneurs and small business owners protect their hard-earned assets, save on taxes, and pass those assets to the next generation in the way they choose and with as little government involvement as possible.
While at KKOS, Jarom has helped hundreds of clients from around the country protect themselves and save on taxes by forming LLC’s, corporations, and other business entities. He is also well-versed in the use of Utah Domestic Asset Protect Trusts (DAPT’s) to shield assets from creditors. Jarom also assists clients in protecting their intellectual property by consulting on and filing federal applications for registered trademark and copyright protection.
Jarom takes the time to sit down with clients and their families to craft wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents to facilitate order and certainty in what can be difficult end-of-life medical and financial decisions, as well as a smooth transfer of assets to chosen heirs upon death.
Raising money is often a huge concern for entrepreneurs and small business owners, and Jarom has helped dozens of KKOS clients navigate the process of legally raising capital through private placement offerings under Regulation D and other rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and various states.
Jarom also helps clients take charge of their retirement investments by advising them on tax and legal issues related to the use of self-directed retirement accounts, and LLC’s owned by those accounts.
Jarom is a sought-after speaker on these subjects, and is a licensed Continuing Education Instructor for Realtors in the State of Utah. He has presented to Realtor groups, real estate investors, and agricultural business owners throughout the State of Utah – from Logan to Vernal to St. George.
Away from the practice of law, Jarom enjoys playing golf, supporting BYU sports, playing fantasy football, taking in the natural beauty of Southern Utah, and spending time with his wonderful wife and two children.
